CPP VP Sar Kheng Tells Opposition to Stop Spreading Rumors of Division

PHNOM PENH: Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party and former Minister of Interior Sar Kheng asked the CPP’s political opponents to stop spreading rumors of division within his party, which he says are attempts to divide the nation.

Rumors of division and rivalry between former Prime Minister Hun Sen and his former Minister of Interior Sar Kheng have pervaded international news and politically inclined netizens for years. In a Facebook post from September 11, Sar Kheng sounded off on those who he says are continuing to use his name to fabricate lies and spread division within the CPP.

"The remarks of this opposition-oriented group are a foolish attempt in times of despair and a dangerous inspiration to the nation," he said, without naming any group or individual specifically.

He called on people who he considers to be unrighteous and unjust to immediately stop any actions that affect peace, political stability, or the socio-economic development of Cambodia. He said that such comments confuse the public on the principles of leadership of the Cambodian People's Party.

He then reaffirmed his support for the new administration, led by Prime Minister Hun Manet and including his son, Sar Sokha, as the new Minister of Interior.
